Team Acer schließt die Pforten

Immer wieder leisten sich verschiedene Unternehmen Werksteams, das wohl bekannteste Beispiel ist dabei ALTERNATE aTTaX. Erst vor kurzem durften wir euch mit Team Lioncast ein Neues vorstellen, ebenfalls aus deutschen Landen. Aber es gibt auch immer wieder traurige Nachrichten, denn heute hat die eSport Organisation des taiwanesischen Computerherstellers - Team Acer - seinen Rückzug bekannt gegeben.

Seit fünf Jahren bot das Technologieunternehmen verschiedenen Spielern ein Zuhause und damit auch die Möglichkeit an nationalen wie auch internationalen Turnieren teilzunehmen. Erst vor ziemlich genau einem Jahr, am 3. März 2015, nahm die Organisation ein eigenes CS:GO-Team auf und konnte damit teilweise bekannte Namen aus den alten Counter-Strike Versionen als Lineup vorstellen.

Auch ein Female Team fand bei Acer Unterschlupf und konnte dort im Kampf mit anderen Damenmannschaften Erfolge feiern. So fuhren die Frauen zum ESWC Montreal 2015 und kämpften sich bis ins Halbfinale vor, in dem sie letztendlich unterlagen. Doch seit einigen Monaten war es still um die Herren- wie auch Frauenmannschaften geworden und man ging getrennte Wege. Nun folgt die schlussendliche Auflösung von Team Acer und das Kapitel eSport ist für den Hersteller vorerst geschlossen.

Today I raise the voice with a crying and a laughing eye to the world. Crying, because an era comes to an end: Team Acer will cease to exist. Laughing, because each project also has to come to an end and we all who were involved can look back at 5 successful years.

I want to thank all my current and former players and staff for their commitment and wish them all, especially the current athletes, a very successful future career in esports. I must also acknowledge the outstanding support we got from fans all over the world and I would be pleased if all of them would continue to cheer for the players, regardless where they play in the future. Last but not least I would like to thank Acer, who has made this project possible during the last 5 years.

I know that many of you are wondering and speculating about the reason, but as in all walks of life as well the modern e-sports is subject to change. Plans and strategies change and projects start and will be terminated.

And that is exactly what happened today with Team Acer.

In this sense, let me say again: A big thank you to players, staff, fans and sponsors and let us never forget the last 5 years.
